I have been following Mr. Tharoor [MT] and his forays in
So that’s for the intro; and for the risk management [read as… customary caveat], - well with the available info that I on the specific issues that have given MT significant newsbytes, I wouldn’t normally venture to post a blog such as is. But MT pedigree [and the hypothesis implied in the intro] and my point of view on our [Indian] avowed mindsets on publicly acceptable postures and pronouncements make we want to write this.
But should we really distrust this man. Don’t we need a man with such a demonstrated track record to be a part of our policy. Don’t we give him some more time understand how to say what he has to say [and where]….to be palatable of middle class
Who will be the bigger loser anyway? MT or
The ques I am interested in……I am keen to see, whether MT will sulk and move to Bahamas [or Kashmir]; will he shun politics and embrace capitalism and Kochi or will be get back with a bang; will be prove his detractors or silence them. That’s the moot point.
What is the message to MT?....MT, I hope you will adapt and hit back. Not change core values and goals…just mutate a bit and hand around there. Change the party system or change the party whatever…or float a new one. But just hang-in there. There will be an uphill battle there. But 10 years hence, after you would have come out victorious post the bloody war – you would love yourself for hanging around. Yeah, you will certainly be victorious [if my hypothesis in my intro para is correct].
We are getting more rational, result oriented [not just pandering to what sounds good], progressive and getting aligned to post modern value systems. It ll take time to upstage the old school from politics – because it is deep rooted…but the common man is willing to change its views, based on the taste of the pudding…and he is changing intrinsically – even though he get carried away on and off, but old school symbolism. It will take time, but change it will. The common man has healthy, progressive, performance oriented and value based aspirations. [S]He far more intelligent and accommodating than we may realize. And it means business. Very soon RK Laxman’s
So, MT…just hang in there man. Till you find a critical mass of people who want to act, think different and change the world…soild robust sustainable changes…..even though it maynot happen @ speed of thought…..but ll happen….India is changing at the girth quite fast and the girth growing in size…and people from the bottom are moving towards the girth at a healthy clip. I am taking about the TN Seshan syndromes here for short.
Njoy!

I agree contemporary India has matured....it is in the air.....but maybe the views of the people who have accepted these ideas do not matter....
ReplyDeleteThey say to bring about a revolution there are great sacrifices to be made....and not all of us are upto them...
However there is a second side to the coin too..I think if people stick on to what is right, and not saying from the social point of view, but from the lawful perspective....then i think sticking on to what you personal preference is will be easier. If MT had done the Kochi team's share transfer to madam S lawfully then sticking around would have been possible,m not saying easy in that case too but possible.
I completely second your stance that we do need such talented and ingenious people to run the political game show. It's high time for some matured politics for India.
