The last time when you won a close game didn’t you know the results much before you have actually won? Was it your hunch which helped you guess the victory in advance? Or was it your victorious feeling which attracted victory to you.
Well, that is principle what Rhonda Byrne is promoting through the amazing book ‘The Secret’ and similar other books that she has written. At a scientific plane, what she says is that frequency we carry and create are the frequencies we attract to ourselves from the universe. This follows the principle of ‘resonance’ and is easy to understand. As a corollary, if we carry a particular type of feelings [which are but vibrations with a particular frequency] all the time, then we attract more of the same to us. If we have good feelings – as an outcome of positive images – we get more of positive outcomes. If we fear bad things to happen to us and carry their bad feelings, then we are more likely to have more opportunity to generate such bad feelings within us. In other words, the principle implies that when we want something, we must get into the state of mind of having received it so as to attract the event happening in the material world. If we get into the state of mind of wanting something to happen, then we will always have more of the opportunity to want something to happen [rather than it actually happening].
So the message. If we are happy and successful, then let us continue with the feelings of being happy and successful and the virtuous cycle of happiness and success will be deeply entwined with us. If we are unhappy and dis-satisfied with something, then we need to shift our feelings to things we like [what Rhonda says ‘Secret Shifters’, page 37], else we will get attract more situations which will give us the frequencies [feelings] that make us feel unhappy and dis-satisfied. To extrapolate this further, whenever we enjoy doing something and do it effortlessly the results are often good. However when we try hard and ‘work’ things out, then they generally get harder. When we wish something good in a happy, positive and optimistic frame of mind then the outcomes will invariably be something desirable. However if we wish in a pessimistic and fearful state of mind, then the results will at best be mixed.
‘The Secret’ is in sync with what the spiritual seers have passed on to us over the ages. That happiness is a decision, a state of mind. Not an outcome of the situation around us. Same goes for a negative state of mind. A dangerous trap that a naysayer gets into, is by justifying his negativities when his lurking fears are often proven correct. His negativity attracts negative outcomes which act as the fodder for the vicious cycle of negativity to continue. Little does he realize, that the cause of the negative outcomes are the negativity and not vice-versa. The greater the self-awareness the better one can make use of this technique.
For many the act of ‘sacrifice’ can get burdensome, while the same act if it carries the feeling of ‘giving’ gives a sense of joy and elatedness. ‘The Secret’ tries the explain the key to good vibrations and outcomes is the core inner feelings with which we do something and not necessarily the external words and deeds. That again is what our spiritual seers have been propagating – purifying ourselves from within, so that we purify all our thoughts and feelings. ‘The Secret’ puts us squarely responsible for all outcomes – good or bad – which we experience. It urges us to stop blaming the externalities for any undesirable outcome that we face. Instead it advises us to dig deep into ourselves and identify mediocre or pessimistic thoughts that we carry.
It, thus, puts the onus of our destiny on our own hands. The person who wants to create his own destiny has an uncomplicated path to follow. In the same vein, if we do not take control of ourselves, we will get what we have already sown and we will certainly have a defined destiny for ourselves as pedestrians.
